The Taste of Summer & Winter in Egypt: Key Insights from Travel Agents
When going on a trip, tourists often have certain stereotypes or scenarios in their minds about their vacation, and any deviation from these expectations can be upsetting. For example, countries with hot climates are strongly associated with the idea of «feasting on tropical fruits», and if this doesn’t happen, the trip can end with great disappointment.
That’s why it’s important for travel agents to properly guide their clients not only about hotel accommodation and excursions but also on many other aspects. For instance, when discussing trips to Egypt in March or April, it’s worth mentioning that in terms of «tropical fruits» the main option during these months is bananas. If guests are looking for more variety, it’s better to travel in June-July or in December-January, which can be quite surprising for Europeans.
So, what can travelers in Egypt expect during different seasons? What fruits and berries can you enjoy in the summer, and what does the Egyptian winter taste like?
Here is a detailed list:
- January – strawberries, bananas, melons, pomegranates, guava, physalis, and citrus fruits;
- February – citrus fruits, strawberries, bananas, and pomegranates;
- March and April – bananas and strawberries again;
- May – melons, the first watermelons, peaches, and apples;
- June and July – melons, plums, apricots, grapes, watermelons, peaches, persimmons, and local mangoes, which we consider a must-try;
- August – watermelons, grapes, mangoes, figs, peaches, persimmons, and pears;
- September – mangoes, grapes, dates, guava, and physalis;
- October – persimmons, dates, guava, pomegranates, and custard apples (eshta);
- November – pomegranates, persimmons, guava, and dates;
- December – citrus fruits, bananas, melons, pomegranates, strawberries, dates, and guava.
Considering March and April, which might seem unimpressive compared to other months on this list, it’s worth noting that even familiar bananas and strawberries, which you can find in any supermarket near home, can easily turn out to be much tastier in another country. However, when planning a trip, it’s important to have realistic expectations, and then the sun-kissed ripe foreign fruits will become a pleasant bonus that will only add to the positive emotions and experiences of tourists.
We sincerely wish all travelers in Egypt a delightful culinary journey at any time of the year and the tastiest of trips!
