The 38th International Symphonic Music in El Djem has officially begun. It runs from July 12 to August 16, promising a series of spectacular experiences for concertgoers. As always, the performances will take place in the magnificent ancient amphitheater beneath the vast African sky in Tunisia.
This year’s festival participants include the Royal Chamber Orchestra of Belgium, the Madrid-based Cameraria Villa Orchestra, the Vienna Opera Orchestra, the symphony orchestras of the Algerian Opera and Carthage, the Eastern Heritage Choir from Canada, and other outstanding artists. It is truly an incredible journey into the musical universe, a genuinely international event that art connoisseurs from around the world aspire to attend.
Special mention must be made of the festival’s venue. The Roman amphitheater, a grand structure only slightly smaller than Italy’s Colosseum, boasts walls that are better preserved than its Roman counterpart. It is the best-preserved architectural and historical monument of its kind in the world.
The stands for spectators, the arena where bloody gladiator battles once took place… The amphitheater’s unique acoustics make it possible to hold incredible open-air concerts here.
