Tourist Tax in Tunisia: Current Rules & Rates

According to the law of the Tunisian Republic, which came into force on December 8, 2017, tourists visiting the country must pay a tourist tax when staying at a hotel. In the autumn of 2024, the tax rate was updated.

What amounts are currently charged as a tourist tax for travelers in Tunisia? How are these amounts calculated?

Here’s accurate information.

As of November 1, 2024, an increased tax rate applies to all tourists:

The maximum number of nights for which the tax can be charged is 10, so guests staying at the hotel longer will only be charged for the first 10 nights of their stay. If tourists stay at the hotel for a shorter period, they pay only for the actual number of nights.

Children under the age of 12 are exempt from paying the tax. If a child turns 12 during the first 10 nights of the hotel stay, the tax is charged for the remaining nights within the 10-night period.
