The tourist tax in the UAE has been introduced in three emirates: Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah. All hotels, apartments and guest houses are required to charge visitors on the day of their arrival.
ABU DHABI
The cost of the tourist tax in Abu Dhabi is 10 AED per room per day, regardless of the accommodation star rating.
DUBAI & RAS AL KHAIMAH
The cost of the tourist tax in Dubai and Ras Al Khaiamah depends on a hotel/ apartment’s star rating:
20 AED per room per day in five-star hotels;
15 AED per room per day in four-star hotels, as well as Deluxe Hotel Apartment and Superior Hotel Apartment;
10 AED per room per day in two- and three-star hotels and Standard Hotel Apartment;
7 AED per room per day in one-star hotels.
NB!
In all three emirates, the amount of the fee is determined by the number of bedrooms in the room, i.e. if you’ve booked a room with three bedrooms in a five-star hotel in Dubai, the tax per day will be 60 AED (20 AED × 3 bedrooms);
The tax can be paid either in local currency which is the Emirati Dirham (AED), or foreign currency in cash or by card.
